Shoulder pain & rotator cuff injuries
Soft-tissue concerns that can make reaching and lifting difficult.

Pain in your shoulder, elbow, knee, heel, or back does not always tell the whole story. Focused shockwave gives our doctors another way to identify tissue that may be contributing to your pain and target care to help you return to the activities you have been missing.
Understanding focused shockwave
Piezowave² focused shockwave uses acoustic pressure waves to stimulate biological activity in damaged or dysfunctional soft tissues. When the source of pain is unclear, treating only the general area may provide temporary relief. During treatment, the pulses produce a response in tendons, ligaments, muscles, and other soft tissues. Your feedback can help our doctors identify particularly irritated or dysfunctional areas and more precisely target tissue that may be contributing to your symptoms. The goal is to identify the area, focus treatment, and stimulate the body’s repair response. Your response to treatment is one part of the information your doctor uses to guide your care.
Conditions we evaluate
Focused shockwave may be used for selected conditions involving tendons, ligaments, muscles, and other soft tissues. Your evaluation helps determine whether it is appropriate for you.
Soft-tissue concerns that can make reaching and lifting difficult.
Selected painful or dysfunctional tissues around the elbow and wrist.
Persistent knee concerns evaluated for a soft-tissue contribution.
Foot and heel concerns that can interfere with walking and activity.
Tender, dysfunctional areas in muscle tissue.
Selected injuries involving these supporting soft tissues.
Soft-tissue concerns that may contribute to back or spinal discomfort.
Your doctor considers your symptoms, findings, and goals before recommending care.
When pain keeps returning
You may have rested, stretched, tried exercises, massage, medication, injections, adjustments, or other treatments. Perhaps the pain eased for a while, then returned when you resumed your normal activities. That can be frustrating, whether the problem has lasted a few weeks or several years. Focused shockwave combines targeted treatment with a stimulus designed to support the body’s natural repair processes. Our goal is to understand what may be keeping you from recovering and identify an appropriate next step.
A simple, targeted approach
Your condition, general health, and individual response guide the plan. We adjust treatment to the areas being addressed and how you feel during the session.
The doctor applies focused shockwave to the treatment area and notes your response. Tender or sensitive areas help guide where treatment is focused.
You may notice pressure, discomfort, or mild pain in sensitive areas. Frequency and intensity are adjusted to keep the session tolerable.
Sessions generally last 5–20 minutes, depending on the areas being treated. Some patients report improvement after an initial session; responses vary.
Many conditions are treated over approximately 4–6 weeks, depending on the condition and your response. Long-standing or more difficult problems may need longer. This is a typical timeframe, not a guaranteed recovery date.
For extremity concerns such as shoulder, knee, elbow, wrist, foot, or ankle problems, sessions are commonly once a week for several weeks. As the condition improves, visits may be spaced 10–14 days apart.
Focused shockwave can be a standalone treatment or combined with chiropractic care and other regenerative therapies when appropriate. The aim is a comprehensive approach tailored to your needs.
