Start with understanding

Every care plan begins with you.

A consultation and examination help us identify what may be contributing to your symptoms. We explain the findings and recommend care for your specific needs. Your plan may combine the treatments below with nutrition, lifestyle guidance, and rehabilitation strategies.

01

Chiropractic consultation & examination

For new patients seeking general chiropractic care, including new episodes of neck or back pain, headaches, stiffness, and general muscle or joint concerns. We begin by discussing your symptoms and examining what may be causing the problem.

Schedule a chiropractic consultation
02

Advanced condition evaluation

For chronic or specific conditions, including neck or lower-back disc bulges and herniations, spinal degeneration or arthritis, chronic knee pain, plantar fasciitis, shoulder or rotator cuff pain, muscle trigger points, and elbow or wrist tendon problems.

Relieving pressure where pain begins

Neuraflex Spinal Decompression

A gentle, computer-guided traction system designed to reduce pressure on spinal discs and irritated nerves in the neck and lower back. Your doctor may recommend it for certain disc bulges or herniations, sciatica and radiating leg pain, neck pain with arm symptoms, degenerative disc changes, or nerve compression conditions. What is a typical session like? For lower-back care, you lie on your belly or back, whichever is most comfortable. A harness around your waist and pelvis connects to the machine’s pulley system. Your doctor programs the computer for your session before traction begins. What will I feel? A gentle pulling sensation. A large amount of traction force is not necessary; patients generally describe the session as comfortable. How long does it take? A typical session lasts 15–20 minutes. How many sessions will I need? Your condition and the cause of your pain guide the recommendation. The practice typically recommends consistent care over 6–8 weeks for many disc injuries, with your individual plan based on your evaluation and response. Clinical focus: disc unloading, reducing nerve pressure, and supporting spinal mobility.

Targeted care for soft tissues

Piezowave² Focused Shockwave Therapy

Focused acoustic pressure waves are used to stimulate the body’s repair response in damaged or dysfunctional soft tissues. The practice commonly uses this therapy for tendon, joint, and soft-tissue concerns involving the spine, knees, shoulders, elbows, wrists, feet, and ankles, including plantar fasciitis. It may also be considered for chronic tendon pain, calcific tendon conditions, and myofascial trigger points. What is a typical session like? The applicator delivers focused shockwave to the treatment area. Your responses help the doctor identify tender areas and guide treatment. Frequency and intensity are adjusted so the session remains tolerable. You may feel pressure, discomfort, or mild pain in sensitive areas. How long does it take? Sessions generally last 5–20 minutes, depending on the areas being treated. Some patients report improvement after their first session; individual responses vary. How many sessions will I need? Your condition, age, general health, and response to care all matter. For extremity concerns, sessions are commonly scheduled once a week for several weeks. As the condition improves, visits may be spaced 10–14 days apart. Clinical focus: tissue remodeling, local microcirculation, and the body’s repair response.

Helping you move with greater ease

Chiropractic Care

Chiropractic care provides structural support for the joints, soft tissues, and nerves of the spine and extremities. Adjustments are customized to your individual needs, with traditional and lower-force techniques available. What can it help address? Your doctor may consider chiropractic care for common neck and back pain, stiffness, tightness, posture-related concerns, balance issues, limited movement, and headaches associated with neck or musculoskeletal problems. What shapes my care? We look at how you move and what may be contributing to the problem. Your evaluation may include discussion of previous injuries, posture, work demands, activity, and exercise habits. The technique and recommendations are based on your examination findings and goals. How does it fit with other treatments? Chiropractic care may be combined with decompression, focused shockwave, HEIT, or laser when appropriate. Nutrition and lifestyle recommendations can also be part of your plan. Our doctors are certified in lumbar flexion-distraction, shown here. Clinical focus: improving movement and supporting your overall health and daily function.

Supporting nerves and muscles

Zimmer High Energy Induction Therapy

High Energy Induction Therapy (HEIT) uses electromagnetic stimulation to activate deep neuromuscular structures without surface electrodes. It is typically combined with other therapies, but may be used on its own, particularly for selected peripheral neuropathy concerns. When might it be considered? The practice may include HEIT for nerve dysfunction, muscle weakness or inhibition, balance and gait difficulties, chronic nerve-related pain, muscle tightness, or painful musculoskeletal conditions. What is a typical session like? The machine’s pad is positioned over the treatment area. Your doctor selects settings for your condition and gradually increases the intensity. You may feel tingling, similar to a TENS or electrical stimulation unit, followed by rhythmic muscle contractions. The intensity is adjusted to remain comfortable. How long does it take? When combined with another treatment, 5–10 minutes is typical. Standalone sessions may last 15–20 minutes. Clinical focus: neuromuscular activation, nerve modulation, and functional strengthening.

Light-based support for recovery

Class IV Laser Therapy

Class IV laser uses high-intensity photobiomodulation: specific wavelengths of infrared light applied to support tissue repair at the cellular level. The practice commonly combines laser with other therapies to support local circulation, recovery, and management of inflammation. When might it be considered? Laser may be included in care for nerve pain, muscle strains, soft-tissue injuries, chronic inflammation, and tendon or joint concerns. Your evaluation helps determine whether it belongs in your plan. What is a typical session like? Patients typically feel gradual warmth on the skin, often described as similar to warm sunshine. The treatment uses light energy; the warmth itself is not the intended mechanism of tissue repair. How long does it take? Smaller areas, such as elbows, wrists, or feet, typically take 3–5 minutes. Larger areas, including the spine, shoulders, hips, and knees, typically take 6–8 minutes. Clinical focus: inflammation modulation, cellular energy, and pain reduction.

Schedule a specialty evaluation

Your first step is an evaluation.

You do not need to choose a treatment on your own. Start with a chiropractic consultation for general neck or back concerns, or a specialty evaluation for a chronic or specific condition. We will listen, examine, and explain your options. We welcome new patients. Advanced Chiropractic of DuBois is a cash-based practice and does not participate in insurance plans or bill insurance companies. For help choosing an appointment, call (814) 371-7211.
